Wednesday Aug.13:

Arrive Anchorage – Stay at Marriott Hotel
Dinner – Welcome

Thursday Aug. 14:

7 a.m. Breakfast - Orientation
8 a.m. Depart on bus to Seward
9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Stop at Portage Glacier
Noon - 1 p.m. Lunch - Summit Lake Lodge or Trail Lake Lodge.
--- Presentation: Climate change risk to forests in Alaska and elsewhere.
1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Tour forests damaged by wildfire and beetle infestation
4 p.m. Arrive in Seward
6 p.m. Dinner
--- Presentation: Representatives from Alaska Native Heritage Center explain global
warming effects on the native population.

Friday Aug. 15:

8 a.m. Breakfast
9 -10:30 a.m. Alaska SeaLife Center
--- Presentation: Ice sheet melt and sea level rise projections along U.S. coasts.
11:30 - 5:30 Boat tour of receding glaciers at Kenai Fjords National Park
7 p.m. Dinner and presentations:
--- Pumped up Water cycle: Shifts in intense weather events in the United States.
--- Putting it to work: Reporting on Climate Change back home, Michigan State
University’s Knight Center for Environmental Journalism.

Saturday Aug. 16:

8 a.m. Breakfast
9 -10 a.m. SeaLife Center
Presentations:
--- Arctic Time Bomb: The warming tundra’s release of vast stores of carbon.
--- Sealife Center researchers discuss global warming effects on animals.
10 a.m. Hike Exit Glacier
Noon Depart for Anchorage
2:30 - 3 p.m. Drop off Anchorage Airport or Millenium Hotel.

Return home unless fellows make own arrangements to extend visit.
