“The Knight Center for Environmental Journalism has provided some wonderful opportunities for those of us dedicated to protecting the natural world.” |
Like many boys at a young age, I aspired to make a career out of balancing farm animals on my head. However, as a young adult, I quickly realized that the job market for that talent had gone bone dry. That’s when I turned to education. I graduated from MSU in 2003 with two bachelors degrees, one in zoology and one in agriculture and natural resources communication. I now make my living as a wildlife filmmaker and traveling educator. In 2001, my sister, Laura, and I started our own business called Sisbro Studios. Our mission is to use nature, art and humor as a springboard for learning. Together, we have produced several wildlife films geared toward anyone young at heart. Our video, “Lost in the Woods: The Movie,” was honored at the 2006 Wildscreen International Wildlife Film Festival as the best wildlife film for children worldwide. Along with filmmaking, Laura and I also travel to elementary schools around the Midwest and perform educational assemblies based around our work.
