Aileo Weinmann
Class of 2005
Communications manager
National Wildlife Federation in Washington, D.C.

Aileo Weinmann

"This is where to get the experience that leads to rewarding careers — the Knight Center for Environmental Journalism and MSU were my roadmap to the jobs I wanted."

While in graduate school, Michigan State University and the Knight Center for Environmental Journalism led to opportunities at the Lansing State Journal and Michigan Public Radio Network. Along with my experience as editor of EJ Magazine and a teaching assistant on a study abroad trip to Australia, I felt well prepared to find a job. After graduating, I worked in Alaska, as a reporter/producer for Alaska Public Radio Network's award-winning newsmagazine AK.

Now, as a communications manager for the National Wildlife Federation in Washington, D.C., I work on strategic media campaigns that take me to places such as Montana, Arizona and Florida. Whether I'm running a press conference or writing newspaper editorials, it's clear that I wouldn't be where I am today without the skills and contacts
I gained at the Knight Center for Environmental Journalism.
