On the fourth largest island in the world, off the coast of Africa, a struggle is taking place between man and wilderness.
What was once a land carpeted in rainforest and thriving biodiversity is now a vanishing piece of living natural history. Only 10% of the original forest remains. Whole groups of species like the lemur, found nowhere else on Earth, are struggling to survive as their habitat continues to shrink. The story is not so simple however. The Malagasy are some of the poorest people in the world and rely on the natural resources to survive.
